Executive Administration

Q&A with Senior Executive Assistant Melissa Marshall

How does the Executive Administration department support Falvey Insurance Group (FIG) as a whole?

MM: The Executive Administration department plays a crucial role in supporting Falvey Insurance Group Executives by providing administrative support, facilitating communication, and ensuring smooth operations across various departments.

What is your department’s area of expertise?

MM: Administrative support, communication facilitation, coordination of executive activities, project management support, office management, and maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

How has your department evolved over time?

MM: Our department is new, but the idea of an assistant has evolved over time to showcase that we are capable of more than grabbing coffee and scheduling meetings. We are looked at now as being a strategic partner to our executives to ensure their goals and company goals are achieved.

What’s something that excites you about the future of Falvey’s Executive Administration department?

MM: I am excited to see the department grow and the idea of an assistant to expand beyond the “normal” stigma. Assistants are often labeled as the “backbone of the company” and I am excited that Falvey has given this department the opportunity to showcase that. As well as get professional development to enhance our skills and trade.

Can you provide key actions/strategies that allow for a smoothly functioning team?

MM: Our strategy to focus on this year is to be more proactive/forward thinking. The team is looking ahead far enough to handle situations before they even arise, so they don’t disrupt the executives and the pals the company needs to achieve.

What challenges might the team face day to day?

MM: The biggest challenge will always be time. There is never enough time in the day/week/month for the executives to be in every meeting. Our challenge is to prioritize time for our executives to ensure they aren’t burned out and can achieve their goals as well as the company’s goals.
